Hello all,

Is it possible to have too many internships on your resume?

I am a full-time graduate student who is working towards a career in
collections managment. I have already held four internships at a variety
of museums, for varying lengths of time. I feel that each internship
followed a natural progression, taking me one step closer to my career goal
and increasing my knowledge of the museum field exponentially. I am now
considering applying to another summer internship, but am haunted by
warnings that I have received that having too many internships on my resume
will decrease my ability to get a job, since prospective employers will
wonder why I haven't made the jump into employment earlier. Of course I
can leave some of the internships off of my resume if needed, but I also
know that these internships have openned doors for me in the past. Is this
a real concern, and how does one decide on the proper number of internships
to have? Yes, employment would ideal, and is my eventual goal, but
currently I can't work and study full time, so internships are my
opportunity to remain connected with the museum field. Am I hurting my
future prospects? Thank you for your input.
