1. Persons interested in local history. A good portion of our audience are seniors. 2. Educational programming. Community history dept. 3. Bus tours are based on local, regional history which is part of our mission. 4. No. Our bus tours are half-day or day-long trips--not multi-day excursions. 5. In 2000, we offered 15 tours. Next year we will offer 17. The program began in 1983 and is conducted by a group of volunteers called the Cincinnati Heritage Programs. In addition to the bus tours, this group of volunteers also does lecture/slide programs; custom tours; tours of Union Terminal; and school bus tours. I will mail you a copy of the brochure listing the 2000 programs for this group. This posting is about Museum Bus trips. If your museum conducts these trips, could you respond to the following questions? 1. To whom do you target these programs? Senior Citizens? Families? 2. Are these trips viewed as a membership program or an educational program? Which department in the museum oversees these programs? 3. Do you require that these trips address some aspect of your museum mission or collection? Or can bus tours go to any place that might be of interest to participants? 4. Do you host a pre-visit event at the museum a few days before the trip to introduce participants to what will be covered on the trip? 5. How long has your museum been conducting bus tours? Have you noticed a decrease in participants in recent years? If yes, what do you attribute this decrease to? Your thoughts on this topic are highly appreciated.
