STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The incumbent assist registrars, collections managers, curators, and archivists in carrying out a variety of activities relating to the accessioning of museum collections. This includes processing incoming and outgoing loans; ensuring proper insurance coverage for all items borrowed or being loaned; tracking collections via electronic and manual systems; coordinating transportation arrangements for collections, domestic and international; maintaining a variety of collections documentation; recommending and enforcing policy relating to the access, handling, and storage of the collections; and providing guidance and direction to junior registration staff members and volunteers. SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: At the GS-7 grade level, applicant must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level or 1 full academic year of related graduate level education or master's or equivalent degree related to the position.
