MUSEUM DIRECTOR CAPE FEAR MUSEUM New Hanover County on the North Carolina coast (population 160,000) seeks a museum director for Cape Fear Museum, which is the state's oldest history museum and is accredited by the American Association of Museums. Reporting to the Assistant County Manager, this position directs and evaluates the work of 16 staff members; prepares and administers a $1.3M budget; oversees facility maintenance; develops long-range plans; manages volunteers and resources donated from the private sector; promotes the museum and its activities through media sources and public presentations; works with an advisory board of trustees and committees. Requires a master's degree in Museum Science or related field and 7 years museum administration experience (preferably history); or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate with references. Successful and documented evidence of fund raising capability preferred. Must have a valid NC Driver's License within 60 days of employment and good driving record. Hours: 8:30AM-5:30PM weekdays; must be available for evening meetings and special events. $45,198-$68,640 plus a competitive benefits package.
