To expand a bit on the ethics question regarding spouses, what do people think of the spouse of a curator functioning as a dealer in the same field? Ordinarily this might not be a problem--assuming the curator is not a customer of the dealer spouse!--but I'm thinking of one situation a long time ago when a curator who had served as a consultant to another museum helped that institution sell duplicates from its collection to other museums, with the spouse serving as the dealer. A lot of eyebrows were raised for years afterward over that arrangement.
