Since 1978, NYC has held an annual "Museum Mile Festival" along "Museum Mile" - - Fifth Avenue from 82nd Street to 104th Street. It is usually held on a Tuesday evening (6-9 p.m.) in June. A number of cultural institutions are open free that evening to the public. The avenue is closed to vehicular traffic and street entertainment can be found along the walk.
