A recent and excellent addition to the literature is Stacy Roth's "Historical Character Interpretation", available from the University of North Carolina Press. As to programs on indigenous peoples, I very much agree that, wherever possible, THEY should be the ones to do it. I have seen some excellent examples, particularly the interpretation of the longhouse at Ste. Marie Among the Hurons in Midland ON; I have also seen interpretation of native life by native people that was bloody awful interpretation and historically quite inaccurate, at two sites in Saskatchewan.
