ASSISTANT MUSEUM DIRECTOR CAPE FEAR MUSEUM Performs responsible work supervising staff and managing the daily programming operations of Cape Fear Museum, a museum of regional culture and natural history in Southeastern North Carolina. Assigns work to staff and monitors performance; oversees training; makes hiring, termination and disciplinary recommendations; leads staff in developing long-range plans; manages exhibits and educational programs; conducts public relations activities; drafts, edits and reviews museum publications; maintains a register of regional history and current events; assists with budget. Requires a Master's degree in Museology, Education, History or related field and 2 years experience in museum or cultural institution management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have demonstrated supervisory skills and be able to prepare long range plans. Requires knowledge of museum practices, audio-visual techniques, exhibit preparation and public relations principles. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and proficiency in the use of computer software applications. Hours: 8:30AM-5:30PM, weekdays; must be available for special events and during emergency situations. Salary range: $33,550-$50,939 plus a competitive benefits package.
