Contact: Susan Zickel, [log in to unmask] Web posting 6/7/00 Historic St. Mary's City - Interpretive Site Supervisor Historic St. Mary's City, a living history museum and education center located on the site of Maryland's first capital (1634-1695), seeks a qualified individual to fill the position of Site Supervisor for the Governor's Field, a living history site. This supervisor will assist in developing programs that interpret life at the height of St. Mary's City in the mid-1680s with a special focus on government, business, trade and travel. Enthusiasm, team-building, a desire to learn 17th-century skills are desired qualities in the successful candidate. This full-time position oversees the daily operations of the site. The supervisor is responsible for the supervision, training, and evaluation of permanent and seasonal staff; the development and presentation of interpretive programs and special events; and some travel as part of the educational outreach program. In addition, this position is responsible for coordinating and/or assisting in maintaining the exhibit area and exhibit items located at the Town Center site, making budget recommendations and site purchases, and maintaining administrative records. Minimum three years experience at a living history museum in first-person and third-person interpretation. Effective communication skills, ability to conduct historical research, and experience in staff supervision required. Salary: $25,000 plus benefit package. Position closes July 21, 2000.
