>What would be the most valuable for an up and comming grad student to >learn. I would strongly echo Leonard Will's comments. Learning about collection management, and the broader field of museum information management, is much more important than learning a particular database or CMS system. Certainly computer skills are important, but they are only useful if applied effectively. What you really need to understand is how collections data is best stored, how users access that data, and how the data can be coupled with other museum information to help create new knowledge. This broad view of information systems and their role in knowledge creation can add real value to the other more technical skills you may develop. -- --------------------------------------------------------------- Guy Hermann Home: 860-536-2994 Office: 617-437-6262 Cell phone: 617-821-3255 (with voice mail) ========================================================= Important Subscriber Information: The Museum-L FAQ file is located at http://www.finalchapter.com/museum-l-faq/ .
