Why can't there be a new word for these institutions? They are definitely not just amusement parks. I would say that they are not exactly museums, either (as I would contend that if you don't have animals, you don't have a zoo). I think everyone would be much happier if we could define this institutional niche with a name (an accurate name) worthy of its often valuable and interesting efforts.
