Museum of Science Cahners ComputerPlace Intern Program Description: Cahners ComputerPlace is an exhibit area featuring 30 computers, which allows visitors the opportunity to test drive a range of software applications. The exhibit is comprised of five areas: The Best Software for Kids, Music and Sound, an Internet area, a Creativity area, and Info Bytes. Visitors will interact with staff as they ask questions, learn about a variety of software packages, and participate in technology presentations. Position Summary: The intern in Cahners ComputerPlace will work in the exhibit itself, help prepare a variety of materials for the visitors and the ComputerPlace staff, assist with special assignments. Duties: - Work as a staff member on the exhibit floor, occasionally taking charge - May assist with training of the volunteer staff - Help maintain the exhibit space - Assist in the development of user documentation for the exhibit - Assist in keeping the internal databases current, and create database reports - Help develop programs for the Info Bytes counter and conduct Internet research - Present demonstrations at the Info Bytes counter - Help to create and maintain the content of the ComputerPlace website - Work on other special assignments Qualifications: - Currently enrolled in college - Strong interest in technology as a tool - Ability to work independently - Enjoys working with people, especially children - Strong computer skills and written skills Salary: Paid position, between $6.00 and $7.00 hourly Schedule: Various start dates and weekly schedules available.
