Dear Co-members of the Museum-List, seems there is no official obituary in English at the newslines' sites, so I'll try to translate the essence of the info: Antun Bauer, museologist, was buried yesterday at the Mirogoj cemetery, Zagreb, Croatia. Among others, he founded the City Museum of Vukovar (where he was born), Gallery in Osijek, The Archives for Pictorial Arts in Zagreb, relevant departments in the national Academy (HAZU, formerly JAZU) in Zagreb. Speaking at behalf of Croatian museum workers, dr. Ivo Maroevic stated that the late Dr. Bauer was known primarily because of foundation of Museum Documentational Center in Zagreb (http://www.mdc.hr), first and for a long time the only of its kind in Europe, also teaching Museology as postgraduate and eventually graduate study at the University of Zagreb (http://www.ffzg.hr/infoz/muzej/prvae.htm). Looking if something could be read about him in English at the Internet, I succeeded to find a sole news transcript from 1998: http://www.croatia.hr/CW/001/str16.html#vukovar Sincerely, Jadran Kale, curator ethnologist Zupanijski muzej, P.p.7, HR-22001 Sibenik Croatia: 385 (0) 22/ 213-880, fax 213-355 http://jagor.srce.hr/muzej_sibenik ========================================================= Important Subscriber Information: The Museum-L FAQ file is located at http://www.finalchapter.com/museum-l-faq/ .
