4th ANNUAL RURAL SCHOOL ART SHOW
OPENING APRIL 11th, 2000

The Kodiak Community is invited to the 4th Annual Rural School Art Show,
opening April 11th and showing until May 13th at the Alutiiq Museum Gallery.

This annual exhibition of artwork from students in the Kodiak rural school system
is a partnership between the Kodiak Island Borough School District and the Alutiiq
Museum. Submissions from Chiniak, Larsen Bay, Ouzinkie, and Port Lions’ schools
include graphic arts, carving, skin sewing and mixed media pieces.  All artwork is
Native Alaskan in theme or depicts life in a contemporary village setting. April
Laktonen is the Museum’s spring intern and is Guest Curator for the Rural School
 Art Show.

The public is invited to stop by and vote for the Viewers Choice Award.  That and
the Best of Show awards will be announced May 12th, which is also the same day as
the Alutiiq Museum Birthday and Native Arts Raffle.
