I have loved this thread...reading everyone's stories really affirms what we
all do for a living.

As an adult, one of the best exhibitions that I ever saw was entitled "When
Barbie Dated GI Joe." It was at the Strong Museum, in Rochester, NY. (a
great place if you get to visit) The exhibition traced the history of these
two beloved toys while questioning gender identity formation and how it
relates to our childhood playthings. It was wonderfully curated, dealing
with heady stuff while being funny and ironic. I still think about it when
I'm talking to colleges about great museum experiences.
