We utilize a couple of different methods to create outdoor sensory experiences. (with varying degrees of success) For smells we use an AromaSys unit which disperses scent particles in a limited area. We use this in our Algonquian Indian village to simulate campfire and cedar smells. For certain sound effects (Fishing docks, pirate battles, stormy seas) we use digital repeaters from Racom. These allow us to record sound clips from .wav files to add sound effects to particular sections of the exhibit hall. I'm real high on these units.....they're small, low maintenance and versatile.
