Hi everyone,

We use the Fargo C30 printer you can find it online at

It can be purchased for about $1500.  One of our other local museums
purchased it first for their membership program, and found it so easy to
use and cost effective, that we also purchased one for our museum.  We
set up basic templates in a program like Photoshop (or you can use their
software) and use the printer to  do membership cards, executive passes,
nametags, and Id cards.   We have found it very easy to use and cost
effective.

At our museum we use a third party printer and we get our cards with
in 5 days of sending the list but i used to work for a photogrpahy
company and we printed up mass id cards for companies and i can tell
you that it is not too hard once you have it set up. The machine is
abit pricey ($1000 - $5000) as is the ink cartridge which used to jam
up alot if you did not place it in perfectly. It requires a design
program. I suggest if you are going to use this system to hire some
one to set it up and have a limited amount of people to have access to
it. But in regards to our the cards, ourmemebrs prefer the credit card
plastic ones over the paper ones as they are more durable and the
constituents are more prone to keeping them in their wallets as they
fit better and are much more attractive
