JOB TITLE: 	Conservator for the Pink Palace Family of Museums 
EMPLOYER:	City of Memphis Government, Parks and Neighborhoods

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:	Working under the general guidance of the Manager of Collections, the Conservator monitors environmental conditions and implements conservation measures for the 40,000 plus artifacts and specimens in the collections of the Pink Palace Family of Museums using Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice from the American Institute for the Conservation of Artistic and Historic Works (AIC). Leads and evaluates the work of employees in handling collections, oversees installation of artifacts and specimens in exhibitions, maintains the conservation laboratory and creates and maintains condition reports and conservation reports. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in museum sciences, archeology, history, chemistry, geology, or a related field; three (3) years museum conservation or preparation work experience, with one (1) year in supervisory position; or any combination of experience and training that enables one to perform the essential job functions.
