Hi everybody!
It's been a long time coming, but the Fish Out of Water exhibition is up
and ready to look at. Your special invitation will be in this post
tomorrow, so look out for it. In the meantime, a questionnaire, please.
As I promised, having all the fossil fishes from Dura Den gathered
together for the first time for either 100 - 160 years, or 370,000,000
years depending on how you look at it, has given us a unique opportunity
to do a lot of research, and already we are in the position to assist
other institutions with fossil fishes from Dura Den in provenancing their
collections, if additional information is required.
If you have Devonian fossil fish without any attatched info., we would be
more than happy to pass on what information we have gathered, and also,
perhaps your information would fill in a jig-saw link for other people.
So....
Are any of your slabs numbered on the face in crude black paint? I
suspect that the one at the American Museum of Natural History in New York
may be.
Or do they perhaps have delicate Roman numerals pencilled on their edges?
The answers to WHY I'm asking these questions will become clear, and you
should look at our exhibition web page at
http://home.clara.net/standrewsmuseum/fossilfi.htm
I'll send you your reunion invitation first thing tomorrow.
Bye for now
Erika Topolewska, your favourite Scots lassie.
