Hi Everyone,

Anyone who is interested in this thread should read this story in The
Independant on the call from Zahi Hawass, the new director of the Supreme Council of
Antiquities in Egypt, for the British Musuem to return the Rosetta Stone to
Egypt.

(Hawass is the all-too familar media figure in many Discovery Chanel and
National Geograhic program on Egypt - he is former director of the Pyramids)

Some are calling this as the latest outcry in "Cultural Nationalism" and some
see it as being a just call for reparations for cultual heritage looted
during the Hey-day of European Colonialism.

Do iconic artifacts such as the Rosetta Stone represent true cultural
heritage or are they economic pawns - engines that bring multitutdes of tourists and
income into whatever venue where they reside?

Whatever your point of view this is an important story that bears following
since it could impact musuem collections around the world.

Here is the link to the story:

Cheers!
Dave
