Celina -- is the "newly restored courthouse" in use as
a courthouse, or has it been turned over to your
organization for preservation purposes?

If the latter, obviously the time period you think is
important to evoke would be the determining factor in
what ishung. Portraits of political leaders and
important jurists from the area would be most
appropriate, "wanted" posters seem to be popular, a
copy of the Declaration of Independence, the
Constitution of the United States, appropriate State
documents, maps of the area served, rules for behavior
in the building would all be normal hangings.

If you're concerned about weight and light levels,
that's a whole other set of questions/concerns.

If it's a working courthouse, all the above will be on
display. Here in Milwaukee County the working
Courthouse is also the seat of County government. It's
a huge Beaux Arts building with offices (County Exec.,
County Supervisors, many of the smaller administration
depts, the Treasurer's Office, the County Clerk's,
etc, meeting rooms, several auditoria for public
hearings, a restaurant for workers, visitors, people
on jury duty, storage for non-current paper records,
etc. in addition to the courtrooms, jury rooms and
offices associated with the court.

There is also a fair amount of latitude between areas
where the public goes and the offices and storage.
The restaurant posts menus and specials, the shoe
shine station lists its prices as do depts. that
provide copies of tax records, birth certificates,
etc. HR issues documents, as does AFSCME (the union
which represents the vast majority of employees),
which must be posted in locations where employees can
see them. Announcements of exams for jobs are posted,
workers are permitted to decorate their cubicles.

No Soliciting" signs are prominently posted, as are
"No Smoking" signs.

Hello
I am writing a plan for a newly restored courthouse.
The document will address what can and cannot be hung
in public spaces within the courthouse. Does anyone
know where I can find resources for a plan like this?
Thank you,
