I hate to do this to the list, but as past queries have shown -it's
effective. Long ago a friend mentioned a great tour of San Francisco's
underground -part of the city that had been damaged (during the big
earthquake?) or subsided, and then built over -creating an abandoned
underground city. Has anyone heard of, or taken this tour? Is it in San
Francisco -or am I thinking of Seattle? Can you provide contact info.? I
will be visiting San Francisco, California, USA, in late July/early August
this year. Please reply off-list at the e-mail address listed below.

To all the many helpful and well informed people who are willing to offer
additional advice on places to see and places to stay -thank you. But since
I can't bring all of our list members with me on the trip, please reply
off-list. I have very little time in SF, and I hope to spend it on the tour
described above. Anything else I get to see will just be icing on the cake.
