Rich,
        No flamesuit needed.  I think this needs to be fitted
to the historical context and particularly the psychic energy
surrounding Japanese militarism ca. 1930-1946.  I don't think
it should be blatant, but the idea of trying to be PC with
something like this is an insult to those who were
participants.  We need healing, above all; a better matter to
ponder is how to begin that process.
