There have been a lot of good, thoughtful responses to this thread.  Not
being a registrar or collections manager, I hesitate to offer my 2c.  But
before adopting or inventing any scheme, I would think that the first point
of business should be why you wish to create these definitions?  Is it a
matter of inventory?  Cleaning and maintenance?  Figuring depreciation
values?  Or just divvying up who's responsible for what?  I think that once
you have an idea of what you're trying to accomplish, a system may very well
sugest itself.
