William,

I have forwarded your message to the Fort Sumter Trust and to the Naval Order of the United States. I'm sure you'll hear from someone who can help.

 Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Repairing/restoring/stabilizing a wooden skiff

 Hi all,
Beauvoir, the Jefferson Davis Home and
Presidential Library, has in its possession a wooden skiff
once owned by Winnie Davis, daughter of Jefferson Davis. The
skiff was smashed quite well by Katrina.  One year ago it
was discovered in the bayou on the property  and it's
currently stored in the barn at the back of the property for
lack of expertise and storage space. Any advice on
individuals or companies that have the capability to restore
it or at least stabilize it for exhibition? Many thanks!
