Hello. I am interested in knowing what types of policies are in place at your institution/site regarding the allowance of galas, parties and other events with food and drink (alcholic and non-alcholic) in spaces adjacent to galleries. I know that this is practiced in some art museums but what about other institutions with historic objects- furniture, textiles, metals, etc.

Do you have written or unwritten policies?
Is it specified on a facilities report for loans?
Who has jurisdiction over these decisions, conservation or museum management?
Is there a restriction on what types of foods or drink are allowed?

I am mainly interested in hearing from US or North American museums but other countries are also welcome to respond. In the last few years, this museum's policy has changed regarding this topic and I am curious to know where we stand.

Thanks for your input.
