More than 500 museum professionals from an eight state region will converge
on Kansas City September 24-27 to join in "Dancing on the New Frontier," the
1997 Midwest Museums Conference (MMC) annual meeting. The four-day
conference offers a variety of sessions and events designed to educate and
entertain, a vendor exhibit hall, and keynote addresses by distinguished
speakers Donald and Adele Hall and Bob Archibald, and a unique big-picture
commentary by Amina J. Dickerson.

The Halls, Kansas City business and civic leaders, will share their
personsal perspectives of how family and company can foster a creative
environment and participate in the community. Donald Hall is the Chairman
of Hallmark Cards. Adele Hall holds numerous board positions and is
currently co-chair of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art Capital Campaign.

Bob Archibald's address, "No Magic Map: Directions for the New Frontier"
will describe the current challenges facing our cultural institutions and
will define the 'new frontier' as it applies to museums.

Amina Dickerson will provide an interactive overview of the annual meeting,
placing the program and sessions in a global context.

For registration and information, please contact the Nelson-Atkins Museum of
Art at 816-751-1298 or Esther Hockett, MMC, 314-454-3110.
