Public Relations & Marketing Assistant Regular Full Time Position

The Asian Art Museum seeks a creative, motivated, high energy individual to
join its public relations and marketing team at the most exciting time in
the museum's history.  This position manages the administrative operations
of a busy PR/Marketing office, and provides support to the varied projects
and activities of the public relations and marketing programs.  The
incumbent, reporting to the Manager of Public Relations & Marketing, will
perform a variety of specialized functions including researching and
writing press releases; developing collateral materials; directing the work
of volunteers and interns; and coordinating special events.

The nature of the work requires maximum flexibility and resourcefulness in
addition to impeccable tact and judgment.

Examples of Duties

1. Oversees the daily operations of the Public Relations & Marketing
Office; creates, organizes, and maintains files and records; maintains and
updates mailing lists; monitors budget expenditures; processes invoices and
check requests; manages all departmental shipping and receiving; prepares a
variety of reports and other documents relating to program operations.

2. Coordinates the development, assembly, and distribution of public
relations, marketing, and promotional materials; researches, writes, and
edits press releases for exhibitions and programs; assists in all phases of
writing and/or editing collateral material including annual reports,
calendar listings, web copy, etc.; coordinates the production and placement
of advertising.

3. Assists in the planning and coordination of events, including media
previews, hospitality receptions, and community outreach efforts.

4. Answers telephone; responds to inquiries from staff, the public, and the
media.

5. Directs and coordinates the work of volunteers and interns in
PR/Marketing activities.

Minimum Qualifications

·  Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university; major in
Communications, English, Journalism or related field preferred.

·  Three (3) years of related training and/or work experience; or
equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

·  Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
for Windows; database, web, and graphics skills highly desirable.

·  Excellent oral and written communication skills; outstanding
administrative and organizational skills; high level of research and
analytical skills.

·  Ability to: display good judgment; successfully sort multiple
priorities; maintain a sense of perspective and humor while working under
pressure; give great attention to detail and accuracy.

·  Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective working
relationships with staff, volunteers, members of the press, outside vendors
and the general public.

·  Ability to plan, assign and direct the work of volunteers and interns.

·  Knowledge of Asian cultures desirable.

·  Current driver's license and access to a car desirable.

Compensation

$16.22-19.48/hour with excellent benefits package*
