Several state museum associations have done economic impact studies for
their states and might be willing to share their results with you.  The
Illinois Association of Museums just published ours.  I will be happy to
send you a copy.  It covers more than just economic impact but that was a
major component.

Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Utah have done them in the last year or two.

Does anyone have ready access to some statistical data about the economic
value of museums to their cities and communities?  I'm working on a
presentation to local government officials about museums in general, and
some facts and figures about how museums contribute to the local economy
