As we finally set up a database for the items in the collections of our
small historical society, I would also like to add a linked database with
references to articles in our copies of early local newspapers and
magazines. Most of our visitors are researching their home or doing
genealogy on family names. I would like to be able to do a search on an
address or name and have the resources come up. In order to get to that
point, though, I think what we must first do is index the newspapers and
magazines (is that correct?).
I have never indexed anything and I have no idea how one goes about
doing it. Is there a simple explanation, or an Internet resource for a
not-so-simple explanation?
   Thank you.
Lynne
