You might want to check out the "Follow the North Star" program at Conner Prairie. It is not so much as an exhibit as it is an educational program (We refer to it as an immersion history program.) The hour and a half program takes place outdoors, where the participants take on the role of an escaped slave trying to find their way to freedom. It is an intense journey that has received attention on National Public Radio, as well as newspapers. It has also received awards from the Indiana State Board of Tourism, The American Association for State and Local History and the American Association of Museums.

The program takes place in the spring and fall of each year, usually at night, although we also have a daytime program for school children (this is not as intense, and the route traveled is slightly different.)

You can find more information about this program at www.connerprairie.org.

Good luck to you in your research,
