Hi Anne,
Although the prices for laser printers have come down quite a bit in
recent years, up to this point we have not been able to afford one. Also,
I question the significance of the light fastness issue with inkjet
printers in using them to print accession numbers. We have had signs
printed with an inkjet printer placed in windows exposed to daily direct
sunlight for years with no noticeable fading.
If light fastness is that much of an issue with an accession number on an
object then that object is getting way too much light exposure. Aren't we
supposed to be protecting the object from excessive light exposure? By
the time the number begins to fade, the object will be destroyed. Just my
2 cents.
Sincerely,
David Ryan
