The Tech Museum of Innovation
Part-Time Position Available
Floor Program Presenter

The mission of The Tech Museum of Innovation is to serve as an educational
resource that engages people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and
experiencing technologies affecting their lives, and to inspire young
people to become innovators in developing technologies of the future.

The Floor Program Presenter's primary responsibility is to implement
intriguing and educational floor programs to complement The Tech's
exhibits. These educational programs range in scale from simple one-on-one
interactions to large group experiences using a variety of presentation
techniques, including drama, live demonstrations, visuals, and audience
participation. The content of each program is presented in a friendly,
easy-to-follow way, and encourages visitors to think for themselves. The
audience will include general and international visitors, families,
students, teachers, etc.  Tech Museum floor programs reinforce our theme of
"people and technology."   The Floor Program Presenter is a part-time,
non-exempt position reporting to the Vice President of Gallery Operations.

Responsibilities:
-Present many of the educational floor programs offered in the exhibit
galleries of The Tech on a daily basis.
-Coach and train other floor staff and/or volunteers to become excellent
presenters.
-Refine The Tech's floor programs based on audience feedback and
educational analysis.
-Work with other Gallery Operation staff to develop new program contents
and formats to keep our floor program portfolio rich and fresh.
-Work collaboratively with other departments, including Exhibit
Development, Education, and Engineering to create new floor programs and to
provide an outstanding visitor experience.
-Work with outside organizations, such as teachers and cultural and
dramatic groups, to create new program collaborations.


Qualifications:
-Successful candidate must have previous successful experience leading
small group activities.
-Excellent acting and presentation skills, including verbal and non-verbal
techniques.
-Outgoing, friendly, and high-energy style.
-Interest in science and technology, and the ever-changing relationship
between people and technology.
-Ability to motivate others, including volunteers.
-Punctual and must be willing to adapt to the museum's and visitors' needs.
-Willingness to work on weekends, evenings and holidays.
-Background in education, theater or technology is desired.
-College degree (or degree in process) is desired.

Hours:  Approximately 20 hours per week (includes evenings, weekends and
holidays)
