Curator/Arts Advisor, New York-based

For our client, a distinguished private collector, we are seeking a
Curator/Arts Advisor.

The successful candidate will assist with and oversee all aspects
of both a major photography archive and a collection of contemporary
art with a focus on photography and works on paper.

Duties include assisting the collector with acquisitions, installation,
storage and maintenance of the collection; overseeing and monitoring
the staff of the archive; creating long-term relationships with
galleries nationally and internationally to sell photographs from
the archive; facilitating the donation and/or loans of works of art
to museums; providing curatorial and programming guidance to the
board of an art center affiliated with the collector; working with
architects and designers to incorporate works of art into building
projects; oversee all moving, handling and installation issues
regarding the collector's private residences; other duties as necessary.

BA required and at least 5 years experience working with a major art
collection, museum or gallery with a focus on photography.  Excellent
managerial, interpersonal and communications skills essential.
Familiarity with registrarial skills (including installation,
conservation issues and shipping) necessary.

Salary up to 80K plus excellent benefits. Very flexible summer schedule.
The position entails a monthly visit out of New York City to work
with staff at the archive.
