Don't forget toys originating outside of the USA e.g.:
- Germany's toy Zeppelins
- Switzerland's music boxes
- German made Teddy Bears
- French dolls
- Canadian "Trivial Pursuit" (invented by Canadians as I recall)
- British "Commando" games from World War II
- Czechoslovakia's Rubik's Cube
- Canada's "Howdy Doody" (from TV show)
- England's W. Britain's Toy Soldiers
- England's Dinky toys
- Italy's Topo Gigio - the little mouse from Italy, though he did come over
to visit Ed Sullivan's TV show in the USA.
etc.
(I hope I got the nationalities and spellings correct.)

You may have trouble locating examples of early 20th Century toys. Luckily
may of them can be made from patterns found in books of the period. If you
are really stuck, we have some patterns.

Hello from Northern Michigan-
I am working on a 20th century exhibit, one element of which is toys.
... I want to tap your brains--what are the favorite toys of the 20th
century? ...
