IMLS Invites Proposals for a Cooperative Agreement to Help Museums and
Libraries Plan, Evaluate, and Share Outstanding Programs

Deadline for Applications: March 3, 2008

WASHINGTON, DC-The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS)
invites proposals for a cooperative agreement to increase the capacity
of museum and library grantees to design and deliver programs that
preserve cultural heritage, enhance learning opportunities, encourage
innovation, and support the professional development of library and
museum workers. The cooperative agreement will improve the museum and
library fields' sharing of best practices and the Institute's ability to
access and analyze IMLS project results and communicate their impact to
the field, Congress, the Administration, and the general public. The
application deadline is March 3, 2008, and the cooperative agreement
will be awarded April, 2008. The grant award of up to $1 million will be
active for 24 months beginning April, 2008.

The cooperator will work with IMLS to improve and expand the sharing of
project design, evaluation, deliverables, practices, and findings among
grantees, future grantees, and the general library and museum community.
It will also enable others in the museum and library fields to learn
from and build upon IMLS grantees' prior work and share practices and
findings based on project evaluations and other methods. The cooperative
agreement will also result in the smooth application of research
findings to real-world library and museum practice.

The cooperator will be responsible for developing: a suite of products
that can be used by grantees to plan, capture, and share project
results, a Web-based clearinghouse that will provide access to
IMLS-supported projects and lessons learned, and meetings on
crosscutting content such as professional development, research, and
youth and family learning.

Go to www.grants.gov to obtain the electronic application package for
the solicitation (Funding Opportunity Number: BSK-CA-08).
