The Harvey W. Branigar, Jr., Native American Fellowship is offered by the Indian Arts Research Center at the School of American Research in Santa Fe.

The fellowship is for Native Americans who wish to pursue a career in a museum or a cultural center. It is a full-time position at the Indian Arts Research Center from September 1 to May 31. An apartment and office is provided, as well as a stipend. The fellow works closely with the collections manager, doing hands on curatorial work, collections management and any other aspects of museum work. A well known conservator instructs the fellow on all aspects of conservation techniques and the Vice President/Director gives insight on Museum Studies.

We have a large collection of approximately 10,000 pieces of Southwest Indian Art, and operate as a research center. All the artwork is in open storage, and we conduct public tours weekly, as well as group tours that come in at different times. The application must be postmarked by December 1.

If the fellowship sounds interesting, and you would like us to send you an application packet, please let me know: [log in to unmask], or (505) 954-7205 (Also, there is a bit more information about us on our website, http://www.sarweb.org)
