Jewish Museum seeks experienced, innovative professional. Responsibilities
include recruiting, supervising and training docents; developing & executing
ed. & cultural programs & curricula for exhibits; collaborations with schools;
some grant writing.  Strong communication, administrative & MAC skills. Send

JOB DESCRIPTION FOR EDUCATION & PUBLIC PROGRAM DIRECTOR

1. Docents
	• recruitment & training of new docents/training sessions prior to each new
		temporary exhibit at least 	
	• create material for each temporary exhibit
	• maintain supply of and update docent manuals
	• scheduling with chairman
	• supervision and continuous evaluation
	• write and distribute a monthly newsletter
	• maintain ongoing relationship with chairman

2. Education: Develop and execute the following:
	A. Adults
		• classes for adults appropriate to the Museum’s mission and exhibits
		• educational programs for outside groups as contracted
		• programs such as symposiums, panels, speakers for specific exhibits 	
	B. Students : both Jewish and non-Jewish
		• interpretative material for children appropriate to each temporary
				exhibit
		• update material for the core exhibit, as needed
		• further develop relationships with Jewish schools, camps, youth groups
		• relationships with members of Dade/Broward Counties administrations 			and
school 	boards
		• relationships with academic and cultural institutions for the purpose of
			joint programs, building a base of knowledge and exchange
						infrastructure
	
3. Public Programs: Develop and execute the following:
		• appropriate programs for each temporary exhibit
		• appropriate programs for specific issues relevant to the Museum’s
				mission
		• annual Events
			- Glass Ceiling Awards
			- Klezmer Concert

4. Outreach
		• sustain statewide program of video, trunk exhibit and lesson plans with
			continuing contact with resource people
		• develop new programs as needed
	
5.  Administrative
	• develop and monitor annual budget
	• develop and monitor budget for each program
	• seek funding sources for students’ buses & programs
	• develop and staff a program committee
	• write grants for appropriate programs
	• staff and supervise all programs, developing committees as needed

6. General
	• attend meetings, symposiums, conferences, etc. that will positively impact
		on the Museum’s programming
	• keep abreast of the field through reading journals, etc.

7. Do whatever is necessary and cooperate with and assist other staff  to help
the Museum further its mission.
