I am a librarian (retired) and a historian. I know that the U. S. has
five (?) repositories for copies of documents in the federal collection
in Washington, D. C. One of those repositories is in Ft. Worth, Texas. I
have forgotten where the others are, but they are scattered throughout
the U. S.

Do museums have similar archives for records somewhere? Since the advent
of digital cameras and digital storage of files, I hope museums have
records of their collections stored off-site. Since museums represent
the history of all of us, perhaps the world organizations need
repositories for such files. If disasters occur, there will at least be
records and pictures of involved museum collections, so files can be
reconstructed.

I realize that those types of things are expensive, but for the sake of
generations that will follow us, I hope museum organizations are working
on it.

I'm sorry if this has been mentioned before. I'm relatively new to the
list, and I have only skimmed many of the lengthy posts.

Are there such repositories?
