Why don't you go to Willliam and Mary in their museum studies program?
Also, don't give up on volunteering, almost any museum (except
apparently Smithsonian) will welcome you with open arms. I found
expectations were that grad students in history will ONLY teach history,
nothing else. For great networking opportunites contact your regional
museum conference, ie, Southeastern Museums Conference (SEMC), P.O. Box
3494, Baton Rouge, LA 70821-3494, $25.00. Also, if you are interested in
registration work, (including archives and preservation work) contact
Southeastern Registrar's Assoc. (SERA) through Michelle Baker, South
Carolina State Museum, PO Box 100107, Columbia, SC 29202-3107 $10.00 and
well worth it!
