Experiential Learning and Looking at Art: Re-approaching the Concept of the
Exhibition
Symmes Gardner, Director of the Fine Arts Gallery at UMBC and Institute
Sabbatical awardee, will discuss the museum as a
potential context for open-ended communication between the artist, the
institution, and the viewing public. His research
documents responses to three contemporary art exhibitions presented at the
Baltimore Museum of Art, The Contemporary
Museum, Baltimore, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington,
DC.

Seminars are offered at no charge, and are held from 4:30-5:30 followed by a
wine and cheese reception.
