Job title:   Exhibitions Registrar
Department:  Exhibitions
Reports to:  Manager, Exhibition Coordination

Education:  Bachelors degree in art, anthropology, or art history required;  Master's degree preferred.

Experience:  Three to five years museum collections/registrarial experience  required. Excellent organizational skills, impeccable
attention to detail, experience with condition reporting and insurance valuation, and knowledge of federal indemnity/search and
seizure application process required.  Prefer a candidate who has experience arranging all aspects of complex international
loans, as well as traveling exhibitions.

Work schedule:  Salaried position.  Monday through Friday. Evenings and weekends as needed, especially during exhibition
installations and deinstallations.  Travel when needed to serve as object courier, Museum representative during condition
reporting, and/or to facilitate loan negotiations.

Applicable physical capabilities:  Must be able to work long hours in galleries and storage areas with artifacts.  Examination of art
works frequently demands stooping, kneeling, and bending.  Close examination of objects requires good vision.  Occasional lifting
and moving of objects as required.  Ability to participate in transportation of objects and to endure various temperatures during
outdoor loading and unloading of objects.

Duties and responsibilities:  Implement all registrarial aspects of incoming and outgoing temporary exhibitions including, but not
limited to, negotiating and monitoring all loans, handling all insurance issues, arranging shipping, monitoring loading/unloading
and packing/unpacking of exhibitions, performing condition reporting, and researching checklist information (i.e. dimensions,
condition and security requirements, value, etc.)  Provide estimates for shipping, customs, loan fees, and insurance for budgeting
purposes.  Work closely and as a team member with Project Administrators, Curators, and Preparators (in-house and outside) as
well as Registrarial and Conservation staff in Anthropology Department on issues relating to temporary exhibitions and loans from
Field Museum collections. Maintain and update loan forms, condition report forms, and procedures. Maintain archive of loans,
shipping arrangements, insurance agreements, and facility reports.  Prepare paperwork for applications for Federal Indemnity and
Immunity from Search and Seizure for international loans.
