Education Director

The Texas Maritime Museum, Rockport, Texas seeks an education director to
continue the development and management of the institutions education
programs, including program development and implementation.  The Texas
Maritime Museum focuses on the maritime history and heritage of the Texas
Gulf Coast.  The education director will oversee the production of community
and school-based outreach programs. A heavy emphasis on interaction between
the docent/volunteer association with tour preparation for adults and
children is important.  Additional responsibilities include developing grant
proposals, assisting with fundraising to support the
education/interpretation programs, and assisting with special events and
promotional activities.  The education director is under the direct
supervision of the Executive Director and works closely with the Curator on
exhibit and special program development.  This individual must be a skilled
communicator, team leader, and team player.

The successful candidate will have three to five years' experience in museum
education, and a college degree in museum education, history or applicable
fields.  A master's degree in Museum Studies or a related field is
preferred, and "maritime related" experience is desired.  Position requires
computer literacy with graphic software experience, excellent oral and
written communication, skills, flexibility, and self-motivation.  Salary
range is mid 20's plus medical benefits.  Send resumes and references to
