November 15-16, 2007
Hillwood Art Museum and Coe Hall, Planting Fields Foundation
Long Island, New York

THE BASICS OF COLLECTIONS CARE, II
A two-day series of presentations for staff and volunteers of museums, historical societies, historic structures and organizations with collections.

Hillwood Art Museum presented the first series of workshops in 2004 and discovered that there is a significant need for these services. While 2004 attendees will learn new information in this series, no previous knowledge is required to participate. The sessions will focus on providing care and management methods for textiles and paintings as well as subjects concerning historic structures and small museums. Special sessions on disaster planning and funding are also included. Question-and-answer sessions follow each presentation and workshop participants are encouraged to ask about objects and issues within their own collections and experience. This series focuses on practical solutions appropriate for all institutions.

Keynote address by Dr. Donny George, Former President of the Iraq State Board of Antiquities and Heritage and Director General of the National Museum in Baghdad. Presentations by Kate Barker, Textile Conservation Workshop; Jonathan Sherman, Sherman Art Conservation; Ernie Conrad, Landmark Facilities Group; Laura Horz Stanton, Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts, and Kristin Herron, Museum Program, New York State Council on the Arts.

A registration fee of $50.00 per organization includes registration for two participants. For registration or more information, please visit http://www.liu.edu/cwis/cwp/but06/hillwood/events.html.
