     The message below is posted on behalf of the Southeastern Library
     Network (SOLINET).

     Help your institution prepare for a hurricane -- attend the SOLINET
     Hurricane Preparedness workshop on Thursday, October 12!

     We are in the midst of a very active hurricane season. SOLINET's
     Hurricane Preparedness workshop will teach you the steps you can take
     before the storm hits to increase your chances of survival and
     minimize devastating damage. Also learn the steps you should take
     after the storm to accelerate recovery and minimize loss within your
     collections. This one-day workshop will focus on the following:

     *  the nature of hurricanes
     * general issues in developing a disaster plan
     * making your institution more storm-proof
     *  activities before the storm
     * what to do during the storm
     *  activities after the storm
     *  available assistance.

     Instructor: Dr. Michael Trinkley, Director, Chicora Foundation.

     This workshop is being hosted by Spring Hill College in Mobile,
     Alabama. The session will run from 9 AM to 4 PM, at a cost of $85
     SOLINET members, $125 non-SOLINET members and FEDLINK. A $10 discount
     is offered if you register before September 29th.

     Contact Steve Eberhardt of SOLINET, 1-800-999-8558 ext 285, for
     further information or to register.
