Position: Data Base Coordinator
Requisition Number:  962138*A
Department:  Maxwell Museum Of Anthropology
Application Period: 7-22-96 to 8-2-96
Starting Salary: $1207.18/mo. to $1650.99/mo. (dependent on budget/policy)
Grade: 9
Part-Time Position/Regular .75 FTE

Summary of Duties:

Maintains and updates computer database system for the divisions of
ethnology, osteology, archaeology, photographic and documentary archives.
Performs searches, generates reports, system backups and oversees operation
of system.  Troubleshoots system hardware and software problems.
Coordinates cataloging activities for the collection departments.  Maintains
files of inventories and donor/accession lists in collaboration with
appropriate department heads.  Assists research coordinator in providing
access to the collections.  Assists curators in organizing objects for
museum programs and exhibits as necessary.

The above statement reflects the general duties considered necessary to
describe the principle functions of the position identified and shall not be
considered inclusive af all work requirements that may be inherent in the
position.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Anthropology, Art History, or
Museology and two years of directly related expereince.  Directly related
education and experience may be substituted for each other on a
year-for-year basis.

Department Specifications:

REQUIRED: Thorough knowledge of computer databases (particularily Argus,
Paradox, Dbase).  Experience troubleshooting hardware and software problems.
DESIRED: Supervisory level experience.  Familiarity with or interest in
digital image management.

Conditions of Employment:

Ability to work as a member of the curatorial team.  Successful candidate
must be prepared to present degrees, certifications, licenses, etc.., to be
photocopied and added to the personnel file.  Must be legally authorized to
work in the U.S.A.
