Subject: Advice on creating a catalog

>I am creating a catalog of a toy collection for a local historical society.

The first thing to remember when creating a catalog is what is your reason
for creating the catalog? Who is your audience? Then you need to consider
the cost of creating the catalog. Is a printer donating materials? What is
your budget for the project? What will the printing cost? Are you putting
it together yourself? These will all be factors for the outcome of the
catalog. How professional do you want the catalog to look? To make my
advice more meaningful, I would need more info. Keep the descriptions as
complete as possible when you consider the audience. Usually a short
history would be at the beginning, then the body of the photographs and
descriptions; then at times there are definitions explaining certain terms
that some people might not be familiar with.
