William C. Darrah mentions two Stoddard's in his THE WORLD OF STEREOGRAPHS
(c) 1977: S. R. Stoddard of Glen Falls NY (active mostly in 1870's) and J.
A. Stoddard of Chicago IL (also active in 1870's).
 
S.R. Stoddard is also mentioned by Oliver Mathews in his EARLY PHOTOGRAPHS
AND EARLY PHOTOGRAPHERS (c) 1973, where he is described as an American
topographical photographer active from Glen Falls NY during the latter 1/2
of the 19th century.
