Fulton County Arts Council (Atlanta, GA)

The Fulton County Arts Council announces the search for an Arts Program
Coordinator to manage the County's Public Art Program. Expertise /
experience in public art is required for the position. Candidates with
strong administrative / project management skills in public art are

OFFICIAL FULTON COUNTY JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

ARTS PROGRAM COORDINATOR
Range C42: $44,903 - $63,761            Class Code: 404093

(Applicants will be employed at a salary, within the above range,
commensurate with their education and experience)

JOB SUMMARY:
Incumbent in this class performs process duties related to planning,
implementing, and evaluating art programs. Responsibilities include
developing program goals and workshops, promoting departmental services, and
performing liaison activities. Incumbent provides assistance and serves as
the expert in an assigned program area.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
This is a stand-alone classification which does not fit within a
classification series.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (This list is a representative sample:
position assignments may vary.)
Develops short- and long-range program goals and objectives for an art
program; initiates and develops program guidelines, rules, and regulations;
encourages participation in art programs through promotional and outreach
activities.  Advises schools, students, artists, and the general public
about program services through meetings, forums, presentations, mailers,
etc.  Establishes and implements policies, procedures, and standards for the
efficient and effective operation of the program; develops and updates
manuals, handbooks, and procedures related to the area of assignment.
Serves as the County's representative to school board members, community
representatives, program participants, and artists; attends meetings and
promotes program activities; establishes collaborative relationships for the
mutual benefit of schools, Fulton County, and the community.  Facilitates
communication among staff, artists, educational agencies, businesses,
residents, and County boards through regular meetings and dissemination of
written or promotional material.  Evaluates effectiveness of programs
through site visits, reports, and written evaluations; determines methods to
improve program effectiveness.  Develops program systems and maintains
records that provide for the proper evaluation, control, and documentation
of assigned area; prepares reports on program activities as required.
Oversees the financial stability of programs by analyzing revenue,
developing budgets, and monitoring program purchasing and supply usage.
Coordinates gallery exhibits, including selecting and preparing art work for
display and determining exhibition schedules.  Provides planning,
leadership, and direction for staff; establishes work priorities and trains,
manages, motivates, and evaluates the work of assigned staff.

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Principles and practices of management and supervision; Marketing and
promoting techniques; Program planning activities; Principles of effective
leadership; Principles of color concepts; Principles of art education; Art
education schedules.

SKILLS IN:
Building an effective art program; Providing leadership, motivating staff,
and promoting and fostering a supportive work environment; Conducting
effective presentations; Developing and delivering effective art
instruction; Developing program evaluation tools and analyzing program
effectiveness; Preparing clear, concise, and informative
reports,correspondence, and memoranda; Establishing and interpersonal
techniques as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general
public, etc., sufficient to exchange or convey information to receive work
direction.

QUALIFICATIONS: (Position requirements at entry):
Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts of a related field.  Three (3) years
experience working in a professional environment with responsibilities in
planning, implementing, and evaluating assigned programs.  (Mutual
interchange of education and experience)

EXAMINATION:
The examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience,
accomplished by analysis of the application.  Application must document that
the applicant possesses the minimum knowledge, skills, education and
experience as listed above.  If selected, an official college transcript is
required.
