Whether or not you are for-profit or non-profit, you will find some very
helpful publications and books available from the American Association of
Museums, whose web-site is http://www.aam-us.org
as well as the American Association for State and Local History, at
http://www.aaslh.org
A great many museums are successfully run as non-profits without being sued
out of existence. The bottom line is to run your organization well. I
wouldn't want to start off with the assumption that I would be misplacing
papers.
